Designer collaborations and H&M are nothing new. Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, Lanvin and so many more have participated. One of the highly anticipated collections of the year is about 21 days away. If you’re a fan of Balmain, November 5th, Oliver Rousteing is making it just a bit more affordable for you to get your Balmain fix!
I have always loved Balmain. Decadent embroidered blazers, skin-tight tailoring and dresses adorned with pearl embellishments Balmain doesn’t skimp when it comes to the “WOW” factor.
However, when I look at the collection everything screams Kim Kardashian-West. It was really hard to look at the collection and say to myself “That’s fierce!” or “OMG! I need this!” In all actuality the only thing that really is appealing is the Balmain logo t-shirts.
Personally, I was really excited when I learned about it. After seeing the look book, I just don’t know what I think about it anymore. I’m a bit less than impressed but maybe in person it will have a different effect on me!!!
Balmain. Rihanna. Spring/Summer 2014 Campaign. Congratulations to Rihanna. The singer recently tweeted the announcement as well as posted two pictures from campaign on her Instagram account. I love Balmain. So I’m actually excited for this campaign and I think it’s a fit between designer and muse that’s a match made in heaven.
Balmain’s Creative Director,Olivier Rousteing, “……not compromising, fresh, modern, the icon of my generation, Rihanna embodies my vision of Balmain in this new campaign. In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world.” Can’t wait to see the full campaign when it comes out.
I must say that Boston is doing a spectacular job at creating their own style scene. Somehow the mixture of New England Classic Prepster, Hipster, Punkster and Hip Hop Rock star really plays off each other nicely and balances well. Everyone has good representation of their style in this small city and it’s great.
There’s a handful of boutiques that if I had access to $40k a month to go shopping at every month to fulfill my style needs. Out with my friend Billy and his fabulous dolls Briana and Ashley we made way to one of Boston’s Best Kept Jewels. I’ll leave them nameless for the simple fact that they have some of the worst customer service ever and it’s like “Really?!” Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That! However, they are one of the few boutiques that carry Balmain, Kenzo, Givenchy, rare Galliano(another love) and more…….
I really appreciate the intricate details that go into clothing of Balmain & Givenchy. Balmain is one of those brands that you can literally look at and recognize right away without even seeing a tag! It’s simple gorgeous, as for Givenchy. However, I never see it worn in Boston unfortunately. It’s sad but true. The fall collection is simply stunning too and it’s a shame that I won’t see anyone in Boston wearing it, well maybe if I go to Bijou. Both men and women can appreciate.
Personally, I actually think that the team behind the creation of Balmain’s menswear line in the past few years has definitely hit the mark. Every collection that they have put out is the epitome of a rockstar style. The attention to detail in the current fall collection is really a key thing. If you notice in the womenswear, there is always such extreme detailing to beading, stitching, as well as the shape as fabrics. I really like that Oliver Rousteing brought that over to the mens. WE LOVE DETAILING TOO!!!
