TBT: Glitter Everywhere

mariah carey, glitter, nick cannon, dem babies, jermaine dupri,
I’ve never seen this movie but I still have no idea what it is about

Glitter, does anybody know why it is exist? A lot of people wish that movie and actually glitter would just disappear. I know I’m a little late on the trend by like a few years but it’s kind of okay because I never tried it to begin with. Glitter, you either love it or you send it to your mortal enemies as like a gag gift. I choose productivity and cuteness.

I like to have a little fun with my makeup when I wear it.  I thought by doing a glitter beard I could over emphasize the brightness in the apple of my cheek. Eh, doesn’t work that way. I also was under the impression that it wouldn’t take long. I was wrong. The earlier post was the day that I attempted glitter brows and then decided I wanted to try a glitter beard because why the hell not?!

How To Achieve Glitter Facial Hair:

1.  First you should buy the color glitter you want. You can never have too much.

2. You’re gonna need eyelash adhesive. I like the Ardell. It’s clear and smells a little like acetone. Kind of stings if you apply after you freshly shaved. BE A MAN AND TAKE IT!

3. THE BEARD: To achieve the depth of the silver in the glitter and I’m sure this would apply to any color, use a water soluble eye shadow or cream makeup your first layer before applying adhesive. Then sprinkle glitter in bowl while singing the soundtrack to Mariah Carey’s “Glitter” #PoorMariah

4. In small sections, dip your paintbrush, I use a 1 inch brush in the bowl, and bring the brush to your face. Press and dip. Press and dip. Moving along section by section moving along the outline of how your beard should look. I did one layer but I didn’t account for actually having to go out into the world and live my day. Probably good to use as much glitter as possible.

5. BROWS: I take one of those tacky little eyeshadow applicator, and squeeze a little adhesive on my brow and swipe! It’s covered in adhesive. WARNING: CLOSE THE EYE THAT YOU ARE APPLYING GLITTER ABOVE. THE OPPOSITE EYE SHOULD BE OPEN. WHEN SATISFIED. REPEAT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. I feel as though I shouldn’t have to place a warning but people like to play dumb. I then take the applicator and into the bowl of glitter and press and dab. Press and dab. Press and dab. You should only need one layer for the eyebrows. An eye full of glitter sounds like a scratched cornea.

6. Spray it down with some Aquanet. Make sure it’s not windy or rainy and go about your day. “Give them hoes what they came to see.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“You Can’t Do That!”

I’m gonna come back and act as if I wasn’t on a hiatus for a really long time. However, I’m pretty sure “You Can’t Do That!” in life. Right?

My friend Carolyn Paine is a comedian, dancer, choreographer, writer, singer, radio host and CAT LOVER. Oh, did I mention that she’s entering the Women in Comedy Festival? She is and I was so honored that I was asked to participate. The theme for this year is “You Can’t Do That!”

Inspired by the political climate around her, Carolyn decided to take all of her talents, along with some talented friends to create an interesting “Stand Up For Your Rights!” through comedy. Adam Sarette and Christian Daniel Kiley helped with the writing and filming of this project. It’s catchy. It’s sassy. A whole lotta of fun to help with as well.

Good luck Carolyn!!!

One Last Pair

“One last pair of shoes.”

The last thing I need is another pair of shoes. I don’t. It’s absurd. However, this pair of shoes is going to symbolize something meaningful. These shoes are going will be the beginning of a new chapter. I’ll actually probably never wear them because of how much they will mean to me.

I’ve often avoided situations where I thought I would fail. An easy wait to protect yourself from the pain that comes with it. I never really felt mediocre until recently. Wondering where this was coming from, I took a hard look at certain things and realized.

You never know if you’re making the right decision. It could be a decision you regret. You never know if it’s the right time. Timing isn’t always key. We all have fears that we have to conquer and it just becomes harder as you get older.

These were the last shoes I decided on purchasing for awhile
These were the last shoes I decided on purchasing for a while

Am I making the best decision? Am I going to be happy? Is it going to be hard? Is it the right time? Who the hell knows because I sure don’t. All I really know is that I’ll have regrets. Regrets eat you alive more than any other feeling.

Don’t Have Regrets.

The September Issue: In Mid October

Summer is officially over. Fall has entered the room. Bringing with it everything from crisp morning air, foliage and most importantly fashion. Fall is actually a really fun season to dress up and play around with different trends.

gary erica chair watermark editedGREY: An alternative to black, this color never goes out of style. Grey really is unique in the sense that it can take you from day to evening without ever having to change. Grey is a dominant color this fall/winter season but KNOWING how to wear it will set you apart from everyone else.

A white shirt and black tie create a super clean and classic look. You can also opt for fun colors like lilac or powder blue to deflect hues.

It’s in the accessories. Whether it be a fun patterned tie or a pocket square you’ve found a way to bring your grey to life. Stay in the same shade family within a few shades but leave the shirt the lightest.

0C9A7683COATS: It’s a personal thing, knowing which coat works best for you. Stay classic and wear a Pea Coat or a Topcoat. Simple with style. Add a little spice to your sweatpants when running to the store or keep it formal with a suit.

Marc Woods 2CAMOUFLAGE: One would think that this pattern is especially hard to pair with clothing but in fact camouflage is a nice subtle addition to any closet. Stick to one type of camouflage. Whether its traditional army or a floral, keep it to one pattern. Accessories, wallets, etc., are great ways to add small doses of this print into to your wardrobe.

These are just a few ways to get yourself ready for fall. It’s not set in stone because good style is about what works for you!

Just Another Night Out

Boston isn’t necessarily known for their style. Not trying to be a jerk or anything but wear a sensible flat shoe to go from the office to the train. Stop with the running sneakers, socks and tights. It’s very frumpy and it kind of shows. The pockets of style are rare and even rarer is the real unique kind of trendsetting style that you see in cities like New York or Los Angeles.

While sitting at a show during Boston Fashion Week a few years ago, I actually met an extremely stylish woman. It was almost intimidating but right away we started talking about fashion. It just so happened she was a designer.

A few weeks ago, I attended her viewing party and absolutely fell in love with the pieces shown. The silhouettes were strong and structured yet with femininity. A statement without being a statement, these pieces were definitely designed with a Carrie Bradshaw type of girl in mind.

And Then Your 28

If Mary can do it....I can do it too!!!
If Mary can do it….I can do it too!!!

Life is life and the things that happen in life are just little obstacles that try to set us back. I’m learning that I can’t let those things define me because then what was the learning experience in that, right?

I Suck At Taking #Selfies
I Suck At Taking #Selfies

I was dreading turning 28 for a multitude of reasons. However, they really just ended up being excuses for not going out and celebrating another year in life. The older I get the less, I want to go out to an actual club(although I can still get down and dance) and I opt for a relaxing evening with friends. However, I was dying to wear one of the tops that I bought! Of course, I needed pants as well and I have to say I put together a super cute outfit. I’m still convinced that if I didn’t get my haircut, I would have looked  rather “Basic” and that’s not cute.

Birthday dinner at Sonsie with Tyler and Racine. You always appreciate the time that you spend with people when you don’t see them everyday at work anymore. So that was a fun actual birthday night. Then Saturday night it was off to Oberon with Eve to see “The Donkey Show” which is an amazing version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Think Studio 54 meets William Shakespeare but completely interactive. I highly recommend if you haven’t been!

My New Favorite Haircut

Whatever Coco says, just trust it!
I trust this statement despite being a man. It holds true as well.

If you live in Boston or the surrounding area and you are in need of a life changing haircut, let me make tell you who will make that happen! Jesse Blodgett down at Salon Mario Russo on Newbury St is the man!

When your hair is right. You feel complete.
When your hair is right. You feel complete.

Now that my hair is darker at the moment, I wanted to fade it so that it would grow out nice. I normally see Tyler but was left in the hands of new stylist Jesse. I left it to him to decide how he would go about it and I think he did a pretty spectacular job. I’m one of those people that’s extremely picky but I don’t know what I want either.

Keep It Cute. Keep It Fresh.
Keep It Cute. Keep It Fresh.

Most of the time at the barbershop, they use clippers and then sometimes they’ll blend with scissors. Midway through the haircut, Jesse employed an awesome technique of razor blending to really blend the lines for a nice fade!

I really love my haircut!
I really love my haircut!

Honestly, I couldn’t be more happy with my haircut!

Note: I’ve had a lot of haircuts and I’m typically never this happy. I’m very happy!
