“Sometimes you don’t get a second chance. You need to take a chance when you have the opportunity. Always.”
Remember way back when I was obsessed with CA by Cinzia Araia’s Rabbit Sneaker? . Remember how much I loved that shoe. I even used the brand as a marketing project assignment which I got an A- despite not being able to get in touch with the right department because of the Italian Stock Market rules, do you remember?
Then the day came that I was going to go buy myself a pair. I thought that I deserved it. Only to get to Barney’s and find out that being a unisex shoe and European it was cut a little bit more on the narrow side so it wouldn’t work for me. *Insert Tear Face*
I was able to recover from my “Life Is Over Moment” but I found myself still drawn to Cinzia’s brand philosophy “Vison-design. A technical description of Cinzia Araia’s shoes.”and my favorite line “A transformation always in progress.” So in the midst of my shoe shopping addiction, I always find myself on the same sites and I thought why not check up what Cinzia is up to. Imelda, Goddess of Shoes heard my cries. The menswear line for 2014 is on point.
This is my second chance and I hope that I never have to go through this again. They’re just so effortless.
Who doesn’t love a good pair of shoes? I’m going to speak for everyone when I say that “Everybody loves shoes!!” To me shoes are an extension of the soul in a sense. You probably don’t realize how intimate shoes really are but think about it for a second.
Ready? Here are some reasons:
Shoes will do whatever we want them to do. We can dance, run, kick, strut down the street with confidence in our shoes. When we get tired of them….to the back of the closet they go.
A good pair of shoes that is properly fitting will last you a LIFETIME! The most loyal friend on earth we never have to worry about them not fitting us if we have a carb filled night.
Shoes define our personalities. Put on a pair of shoes and your stripped of all your other masks and left with your SHOES!
You can have as many or little as you want. You can’t really do that with relationships unless your kind of well….um(you thought it, I didn’t say it)
Love at first sight! Forever and always true love….Take good care of them and you’ll be obsessed for years to come. Put them in the closet for a few months or longer and pull them out of the box and say “Hell Yeah F*cking Right!”
The worst that is gonna happen is you might get a blister, run them down to the ground, or you fall in them and people laugh. A lot better than anyone else doing these things to you cause if someone gives you a blister “There’s an app for that!”
I was always obsessing over shoes I think but I didn’t realize it until I worked in the women’s shoe department of a clothing store. The countless pairs of shoes that women had to choose from. It’s unfair. Lucky for me that I am able to wear a women’s sneaker…..LUCKY FOR ME!!!! I loved helping women find shoes that fit their personality and I would give them an honest opinion just as I do when it comes to hair color.
Personally, I like sneakers or funky dress shoes. They define my personality, I could wear the simplest of things but the right shoe can totally change the appearance to make me complete! However, I do not use shoes as a method of protecting me from people. I think of my shoes as a connection to people.
What are some your favorite shoe styles? Do you have a particular brand that you absolutely love? I’d love to hear and maybe find a new brand for myself!
Brands A Make Me Dance:
CA by Cinzia Araia–Cinzia Araia created this sportswear line that would act as the sister to her namesake. Unisex shoes that have an edgy, modern yet wearable for the fashion forward person. Particularly The Rabbit which is my favorite of her shoes. I wrote a few posts about them here.
Jeffrey Campbell-Amazing shoes that really take femininity to the next level but with a grungy edge. Both men and womens shoes have this Courtney Love/David Bowie feel. I can’t wait to buy the Jeffrey Campbell Wordz!!!
Ralph Lauren-Comfortable shoes. Synonymous with luxury. Classic, elegant and modern for that New England Prep School student in us all.
Philipp Plein-Edgy. Sexy. Rocker. Chic. Glamorous are words that I would use to describe this bad boy of the design world. Take a look for yourself, you’ll fall in love!

So I’m sitting at Club Cafe hosting a pity party for myself and the conversation at the other end of the bar isn’t all that intriguing right away. However, someone needed directions and the directions they were all wrong so I decided to chime in. Chime in, was probably the wrong to do. He asked me where to go “I said 9 Newbury St”….to which he plugged into his GPS on his phone. I looked at him and said that he was spelling it wrong. I said “Not Berry, Bury.” He looked at me puzzled and confused. That’s when another person at the bar chimed in and said “Welcome To Boston!”…..THE SHOCK THAT CAME OVER MY FACE! I looked at the boy who was from Savannah, GA and asked him “Do I talk like a Bostonian?”…..not answering right away he looked at me and then said with a nice smile “Yes you do sweetie. It’s ok. Your hair is fierce though!”
All my life I’ve tried not to talk like a Bostonian but what ended up happening…Anyways….the point of this blog was something else but I had to share this since it was freshly happening as I was writing the main focal point.
I like to think of myself as a Chameleon in some ways. I like to change it up & shake it up. Spice is the variety of life and keeps us interesting characters. So I always tell myself I’m going to reinvent myself into something fabulous. I used to have a daring edge and have a bit more of an edge when I was younger. So I thought.

I know better than to get my hopes up with Cinzia Araia

I know it’s normal to feel in a style rut sometimes. It’s normal and happens to everyone. This is my inspiration for the fall though. I think that incorporating some of these themes and elements into my Style Renovation for the fall will give me an edge. The edge that I miss about myself. The edgiest I get now is blonde hair and my new-found love for black eyebrows. That’s rather disappointing and boring.
I’d like to know what you do when you get into a fashion rut? How do you pull yourself out? Do you go through your closet and reinvent yourself that way? Feel free to share your thoughts. I will respond to everyone that leaves a comment.
Cleaning out my closet and looking through my stuff to get ready to give to donation centers.I actually never give clothes away,I just throw them away.I thought this time, I’m going to donate clothes. Which is a great idea and theory but it never ends up happening to plan because as soon I put something in a bag, I take it out and think, well I want this. I realize how many pairs of shoes or how much I need to go shopping(at least in my head that’s what I think)
So looking through my shoes, I realized that I will forever and always own just way too many shoes. However, in my closet I still don’t have those Cinzia Araia Rabbit sneakers that I desperately wanted. All that was in my closet that was a reminder of what could have been the most beautiful shoe union between a man and shoes was Jeffrey Campbell wedge sneakers that have spikes…and I got my mom a matching pair.
Although, I did notice while looking online to see if I could find a men’s version of Cinzia Araia’s, that the new wedge sneaker game for the fall 2013 season is beyond SICK! I mean from Jeffrey Campbell, Ruthie Davis, Marc Jacobs and Giuseppe Zanotti, the game this season is slaaaaaaying.
Hmm? What should I invest in next. Take a look and let me know what you think?
I will always love you Cinzia Araia……it just was not to meant to be
As you may remember, there is this shoe called “The Rabbit” by CA by Cinzia Araia that I am beyond obsessed with. The sneaker has these long suede or leather bands that allow the individual wearing the shoe to create a variety of looks to really showcase their own style and not that of just the shoe. They retail anywhere from $300-$400, more or less depending on when and where you buy them. I HAVE BEEN OBSESSED FOR QUITE SOMETIME, since I first heard of the shoes last year!
So one day back in February or maybe it was early March, I decided that I NEEDED THESE SHOES! I was going through a depressive moment and shopping a lot and shoes were what I needed to make it through the day. I ended up with an impressive pair of Jeffrey Campbell‘s that I can hardly walk in but that’s ok….they were a steal at $50!!!!
Barney’s in Boston is the place to go to for hard to find desginers, emerging designers and just really interesting pieces that aren’t of the mainstream. Think outside the box a bit! I walked into the shoe department and knew exactly what it was I looking for. I was looking for shoe in either black or white. I didn’t see it right away, it’s tucked against the left wall towards the back and there it was CA by CINZIA ARAIA! STARING ME IN THE FACE IN ALL OF THE GLORY THAT I HAD DREAMED ABOUT for such a long time.
A sales associate came out, she had dreads and was really cool like in a Brooklyn sort of way. She wasn’t from Boston, either NYC or she was from the south but like Virginia south. She grabbed me the biggest size in the cranberry color, not the color I wanted but fine none the less. I proceeded to try the shoe on……”AAAAAAAAH” My heart sank………
The shoe was too tight!!!!! No i screamed in my head. This can’t be! Why me? The shoe that I was basing my life around at that very particular moment didn’t fit me. I was devastated. My life had lost all meaning. “Well the shoes run very narrow. The way that it’s constructed, it will give a bit but not a lot. It’s an expensive sneaker to just wear once or twice and not be the right fit for you” In my head I immediately thought, “SHUT UP! LET ME BUY THE SHOE! IT’S MY MONEY TO DO WHAT I WANT”
Not being able to justify the buy, I placed the shoes back in the box. Tears almost trickled down my face as I walked upstairs to maybe see if the men’s department had the full mens line. They didn’t. I walked out, probably the saddest I have ever been in my entire life. Life didn’t have any meaning at this point. Then I realized…..it’s just a fucking shoe. Get the fuck over it…….and then I remembered that I got the most amazing pair of Jeffrey Campbell’s for a steal!
“What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially these days, when humans come into contacts so quick. Fashion is an instant language”-Miuccia Prada
To me one of the greatest aspects about fashion is footwear. I absolutely love shoes. I’ve had some really awesome shoes too! I actually enjoy sneakers more in all honesty, I find that with my height and personality I can dress a sneaker up or dress it down. They always give me a little flair and pizzaz to my otherwise monotone wardrobe. Lately, I’ve become obsessed with Cinzia Araia and even wrote about the brand for a marketing project for school…..however, there is very little information that can be found!
It happened that I was on the site www.luisaviaroma.com and decided to take a look at sneakers that is where I discovered Philipp Plein. German born, Swiss based Plein, has had this company that designs for both men and women for over 10 years.Surprising, exclusive, luxurious is the brand in which was created using high quality materials to create a feeling of Rock ‘n’ Roll and high-end luxury combined. A luxury splurge in fact it is with most sneakers starting at around $740 and up. These pieces are definitely going to bring the shock and awe factor when entering your credit card numbers.
Also designing clothing, last year he made headlines when famed transsexual model Lea T. opened and closed his women’s fashion show. In the headlines again recently after his recent show in Milan, in which models were toting around military guns and he opened with Ed Westwick from The CW‘s Gossip Girl!
As much as it looks like you could Do-It-Yourself, you wouldn’t be able to recreate it. Making a flashy, yet very chic appearance into the fashion forum Gienchi shoes have already made their debut in high-end magazines such s Vogue and have become the accessory to have among fashionistas and celebrities. Looking at these shoes you have to wonder, the person that could put these on and feel empowered.Almost all the shoes incorporate the usage of studs and if they are lacking that, they have pizazz with a great color! The Gienchi wearer is one that is unapologetic, bold, edgy and doesn’t do well without being the center of attention. Gienchi for the individual that is dedicated to preserving their flashy attitude and being really fabulous! “Girl, You Better Slay!”
Which brings us to Camilla Skovgaard, who designs impeccable women’s footwear to begin with but these sneakers are absolutely amazing. Futuristic yet minimal at the same time, this hot little ticket right here would probably be fierce with skin-tight cigarette pants or shorts with an oversized boyfriend sweater for a cool summer day.
I was actually browsing ln-cc.com and found this awesome pair of snake-skin Skovgaards for about $259 with the original price tag being $1259! What a great deal!
I think these would be great a shoe for next season as well. I love the shark-like effect that Camilla created on the bottom of her pieces as well. It is probably extremely comfortable for walking as well. Girls, GET THIS SHOE!!! I just can’t stress it enough. Amazing!
I love all the concepts behind the shoes and the ones that I could see myself wearing would actually be the Skovgaard sneakers as well as the Gienchi. Those are up my alley and Gienchi just scream “LOOK AT ME!”
If you would like to buy or see other brands the links are below for you to click away:
I absolutely love shoes. They make you feel great. They can make or break a look. I own way more shoes than I probably should. I’m a hoarder of shoes, you could probably say. I love every shoe that I own….even if I haven’t worn some of them at all since purchasing.
I became obsessed with the hidden wedge sneaker look. I bought a pair of the Steve Madden’s just because one day. I actually wear them a lot. It was the best purchase ever. They give you height but you can’t tell it’s a heel. AMAAAAAZZZZZING!!!!!!!! However, I then saw the Guiseppe Zanotti and Isabel Marant versions and wished that I had saved for those instead. Then again “It’s Not About The Label,How You Wear It!”
I was on Barneys.com on Sunday morning and I think I was looking in the handbag section. There on the sidebar was a shoe and I thought I’ll take a gander at shoes. I’m one of those really fortunate boys that has a shoe size that translates well into a women’s size. So off I went to to look at shoes. There staring back at me in all of it’s FIERCENESS:
I actually am a big fan of shoes like this. They are grown up sneaks!! The really cool thing about this shoe is all the different ways that you are allowed to wear it.
For instance, you can wear it up high by unfolding the suede wrap around straps to create a really cool look with a pair of cigarette pants or leggings(for a girl, or a really fashionably daring gay man)
I really like the contrast of suede and leather along with distressed nature of the shoes soles.
I’m really just beyond obsessed with these shoes. I love sneakers and I think this is a really cool way of growing up from sneakers to SNEAKERS!
Pair this baby with a drop crotch pants and a cropped jacket….FIERCE!
Anyways, somehow the formatting got messed up. That’s annoying but these shoes I mean they are awesome. This brand is really spectacular. I’m able to see my personality shine through in these shoes when I look at them. That’s important when buying a shoe because it really completes the look. It almost even creates the look. I wish the brand much success and I’m sure she’ll have no problem finding that if she’s only 22 and receiving such a buzz!!!
