Gold is such a statement piece whether it’s jewelry or clothing. Try finding the right shade and you’ve got yourself a problem. I actually really like the gold looks that came out for the 2014 season.
Bold. Metallic. Luxe. Daring. Walk The Gold……
Note: Karmaloop & Jeffrey Campbell is a shoe lovers dream. They're always on sale!
Jeffrey Campbell has won my heart after the fiasco last year. Remember? Thank you Jeffrey for the exclusive deals you have with Karmaloop, it makes me happy.
Siren made for Miss KL is the best shoe ever!!! It’s an interesting creeper style shoe with a Lucite ombre platform sole. I was very excited when I received the box in the mail. I wasn’t expecting it actually be so heavy, however, they weigh in a whopping 21 lbs. I know this because I weighed myself and then calculated the weigh gain. Crazy, I know.
A fellow blogging friend of mine, had offered to take some pictures for me. Checkout InstantMilk‘s Blog! Thank you so much for taking the pictures.
What I’m Wearing:
ALLSAINTS Payne Mac Jacket- Great Trench
Topman Chino Shorts- Great for the summer with a pair of Oxford’s actually
American Apparel Mesh Jersey- Really cute & light. Nice fit
American Apparel Leg Warmers- Who can resist leg warmers
Jeffrey Campbell for Miss KL Siren- Lucite is heavier than you think when you used as a sole for your shoe!
Just as it sounds, I experienced my first “Flight from Hell” and it wasn’t because of workers. It was because of two ignorant people actions and words. I know that people make fun of people for no reason whatsoever. Everyone is guilty of it, I am not saying that I’m 100% perfect but I also know when to comment about something. It doesn’t make it better but I’m not going to blatantly pick on someone.
Boston to Philadelphia was fine. Philadelphia to Los Angeles was a different story. Everyone has their own taste in fashion. Individual style is what makes who we are. It’s our way of expressing ourselves as people. I can respect that. I respect everyone’s personal taste. Be you!
So I’m sitting in my seat and this grown woman. I use the term “grown woman” because she was married, step-mother and flirting with her seatmate because they both were seated apart. Whatever I’ll be waiting for that story to end up on the ID Channel. I had on the most comfortable outfit. She immediately takes a glance at my shoes and text her husband and made a Facebook status about it. I have pretty good vision.
So she starts talking to her seatmate about it. As you know, the First Class cabin section is very small and when people get drunk, almost everything they say is audible. So he kept taking peeks from his seat, trying to take a picture. However, I didn’t let them get away with it. I was always ready with a look back for them.
Journeying along our way(at this point seemed like such an eternity), we both made eye contact and she smiled at me. I knew it was fake but even at this point she might have redeemed herself if she didn’t immediately laugh. I might have told her I loved her very noticeable fake Hermes Birkin bag. I might have told her that I loved her really bad highlights. Just to break up this awkward tension. So then I heard them talking about taking their picture when the plane landed. Um……really? If you’d like a picture of my shoes that you find ridiculous, I truly don’t mind. I know they are ridiculous. They make me happy.
At this point, the plane couldn’t land fast enough. They’ve made fun of everyone at this point. Just stop it. Seriously. So I stand up to get my luggage as the plane landed. The cabin light turned on and I saw her go for her phone. She looked at my shoes and laughed so hard. “Um….I dressed so that when I got off the plane I could immediately go out. I just don’t understand people.” is what she said looking at her seatmate. It’s 2014 and I am starting the year off right, so what she had on doesn’t matter. Personal style. Personal preference.
Before the plane even landed, I thought about the unimaginable words that I might have said to her face as I got off the plane. I really thought long and hard. I almost said it. I wish that my phone had been charged or my computer didn’t die but then again, I think it’s for the better that I didn’t have access to devices because I might have said something and ruined my start to 2014. So I got off the plane and didn’t say a thing. I walked right by her and let her have a last cheap laugh.
As I was waiting for my ride, several of the airport people came up to me as they were leaving and said they loved my shoes. 2013 ended with a smile.
Phew. Feel better. I put in the Burn Book and feel better.
I must say that Boston is doing a spectacular job at creating their own style scene. Somehow the mixture of New England Classic Prepster, Hipster, Punkster and Hip Hop Rock star really plays off each other nicely and balances well. Everyone has good representation of their style in this small city and it’s great.
There’s a handful of boutiques that if I had access to $40k a month to go shopping at every month to fulfill my style needs. Out with my friend Billy and his fabulous dolls Briana and Ashley we made way to one of Boston’s Best Kept Jewels. I’ll leave them nameless for the simple fact that they have some of the worst customer service ever and it’s like “Really?!” Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That! However, they are one of the few boutiques that carry Balmain, Kenzo, Givenchy, rare Galliano(another love) and more…….
I really appreciate the intricate details that go into clothing of Balmain & Givenchy. Balmain is one of those brands that you can literally look at and recognize right away without even seeing a tag! It’s simple gorgeous, as for Givenchy. However, I never see it worn in Boston unfortunately. It’s sad but true. The fall collection is simply stunning too and it’s a shame that I won’t see anyone in Boston wearing it, well maybe if I go to Bijou. Both men and women can appreciate.
It’s still hard to grasp that Michael Jackson(RIP), Prince and Madonna are 55 years old this year. Kind of wild that he’s not even here on earth to create music anymore. His style in both music and fashion still live on. He’s really one of the rare few that can actually rock Balmain effortlessly.
Does anybody remember London Fashion Week last year when Philip Treacy did the hat collection inspired by Michael Jackson?
I remember growing up as a kid with his music on cassette and anytime we would take a road trip, I would bring along my favorite cassette “Off The Wall”. So many great tracks on that album. My favorite track is actually “I Can’t Help It” and honestly, I think it’s probably one of his most covered tracks. Covered 12 times! Impressive!
My Top Michael Jackson Songs:
- I Can’t Help It-Off The Wall
- In The Closet-Dangerous
- Remember The Time-Dangerous
- Off The Wall-Off The Wall
- Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’-Thriller
- Liberian Girl-Bad
- Another Part Of Me-Bad
There are many more but these are some of my absolute favorites. What are some of yours?
Ever since I bought my Christian Louboutins studded loafers, I’ve been hooked on studs! Studded clothing is great. Studs give a little bit of edge without going overboard. However, you are entitled to go overboard and that’s ok too. Nobody’s judging!
Right now, I’m wearing studded items such as shoes. In particular sneakers, I think it’s super fun on sneakers and who doesn’t want to have a slight bit of edge in their style?!
Here We Go:
Why? What’s So Great?:
Aside from the fact that it’s denim that’s slightly destroyed. It’s a 2 inch platform that is styling and profiling. NO, really though it’s amazing. I love the fact that I have some height but not too much. It’s a super comfortable and controlled walk except that when I wore them home, I literally fell as I walking from the train. OH DRE!
One Minor Flaw:
Since I’m used to walking in a wedge, a flat platform is a little bit more difficult to navigate but whatever. You live and let learn. Right?

Men in Boston are notorious for carrying backpacks!
My blog is about style choices, trends, observations, tips, as well as general fashion and beauty talk. I decided to expand the blog to cover men’s styles as well. Alexis of www.lexlovescouture.com recently wrote a post about how easy men have it when it comes to putting together an outfit. I agree with her but I would still like to cover styling for men. This post is called Manly Monday. I will post it the first Monday of every month unless there is a need or want for more posts. I might be convinced to write this weekly.
My first topic is the man bag. Men don’t carry as much as women, in fact while running errands and going out men can make do with a wallet and a cell phone. I rarely travel with just those two things. I need to be prepared; some friends call me McGyver because…
